I love seeing how much Amelia is like her daddy. She loves to give hugs and gets mad if he leaves and she doesn't want him too. All day she tells me "daddy work" and wants to sing the Primary song about daddy which she knows all the gestures and some words. She has genetically picked up some of his quirks like how they hold her toothbrush sideways, laugh at weird things, love pumpkin cookies, prefer reading over anything, have the same taste in clothing, don't care about eating meat, loves her head being scratched and rubbed, loves the same weird underground songs and so many others. I think, other than her eyes, she looks so much like him as a baby. It's hard to imagine a little boy after having so much fun with a little girly girl.

Brother
So we are having a boy and Amelia is very good at calling my tummy, her tummy, Nemo from Finding Nemo, and the ultrasound pics all "brother". She is so loving and gives my tummy hugs and kisses and sometimes raspberries. She wraps her doll up in blankets, puts her to sleep, tries feeding her and dressing her, constantly kisses her and sings to her. Let's hope she is going to keep her excitement when there is a real baby around that she can't put "night night" when she's bored with him. She is excited about babies and is so helpful making blankets and shopping for him.

High Heels

Amelia's favorite thing right now is walking around in my highest heels on the tile so she can make as much noise as possible. She is actually very good at it. I was getting worried she was going to ruin my shoes, sprain an ankle or drive the neighbors crazy so we found these plastic dress up shoes for her and she loves walking everywhere with them even though they are twice her size. She is very shoe conscious. She loves her backpack. She has just figured out how to dress herself alone (mostly) and will take pants, shoes, socks, sweaters and occasionally her diaper off and on. She loves her accessories of scarves, bracelets and hair things especially her Shrek ears headband from Shawn and Jim. She is such a girly girl.

Easter

I updated an Easter dress for Amelia from last year and made this cute little creation. I am quite proud of the way it turned out and she loves it. She likes to go to the mirror when she wears something "fancy" and twirl around. I was impressed with how well she cooperated for the pics too. Although the marshmallows I bribed her with did help.

Dad's Creative Discipline

On Sunday, Amelia woke up from her nap and wouldn't stop whining no matter what we did. Finally Phil had enough and took Amelia in her room so I could finish eating in peace. When I was done, I went in there to switch and found her wearing this ugly outfit. When I shrieked in disgust, he told me that this was her punishment. She would have to walk around looking ridiculous. I got a good laugh. I'm not sure if it worked or not because she actually liked the outfit and grabbed her back pack and some shoes and headed for the door saying bye.

Sickee

So Amelia has spent the last weekend sick. Se got shots on Thursday and spent the next 3 days throwing up everything she ate and drank. She eventually got a fever and later Friday night, started having problems breathing. She's had breathing problems before, but we didn't want to be to hasty to take her to the ER since we have been 2 times already since January 2 and they do nothing for her. By early afternoon on Saturday she was so miserable and not getting better. She spent the night crying "owww" and "help me" and was so weak, we decided it was time. They had to give her two breathing treatments to get her breathing stable again. After the first treatment, she must have been feeling much better because she started talking and singing again, but it wasn't enough to get rid of the wheeze. After the second treatment, her breathing sounded normal, she was asking for crackers and juice and finally fell asleep. When I took her to the doctor Monday for a follow up, turns out she developed an ear infection and still had wheezing in her lungs. They are thinking she has asthma, but want to monitor her for the next few months before giving her daily asthma treatments. So scary, but we are glad she is doing so much better and we have an inhaler so we can control her breathing a little more. Philip and I wonder if at some point she is going to have to live in a bubble! Despite all this, we kind of enjoyed snuggling, watching movies and reading books all weekend, but I am staring to get stir crazy. I like this picture because she wanted all her stuffed animals and dolls on the chair with her when she was watching her movie.

18 months

Amelia is 18 months now and I attempted to take her picture so I wouldn't have to endure the horrid mall and all that comes with pictures. This really is the only one that is remotely decent. I just like how she's showing her toothy grin. I bribed her with jelly beans, which she calls "yows" which is also her word for marshmallows. Two weeks ago, I asked Philip to pack Amelia a snack for church. Typically I pack cereal and crackers or a fruit leather. When I got to church and opened it up, I was shocked to see a tupperware full of marshmallows and fruit loops!! It was too late, Amelia had spotted them so I reluctantly gave them to her to keep her quiet and reaped the consequences of a sugar hi and then low for the next 3 hours. Philip is no longer allowed to pack snacks.
