So why is it that when random strangers see that I have a boy and a girl their automatic response is, "so you're done". Last time I checked, there isn't a rule about how many children I can have. And what bothers me the most is since I have one of each, people just assume I wouldn't need anymore? So if Ben had been a girl, would people be saying the same thing or would I be getting comments like, "do you want to have a boy", as if magically I am capable of producing and rearing 3 children and I am no longer crazy for having more than 2 kids. FYI there is very little you can do to control the sex of your baby unless you want to pay for some very expensive and morally questionable procedures, so getting pregnant in hopes of having the opposite sex is still no gaurantee people. I think asking me how many kids I want is a perfectly normal and acceptable question and I am more than happy to share my answer even with perfect strangers. But assuming that you know me and then guilting me into not wanting more children (yes, a woman once told me that "you know in China, you would be considered rich because you have both a girl and a boy" as if I should be grateful and stop while I am ahead) is lame. They are so cute. How can you not love them. And although I am not super interested at this moment in having more kids, I reserve the right to change my mind and I don't want my 3rd child to feel like they are a curse on my house.

I get that ALL the time! And if Ben had been a girl, they would be patting you and saying, "Maybe next time" like they were consoling you. The double-standard is that if you have all one gender (my sis) people will try and guilt you into trying for that other one. Super Lame!
Oh, I remember that. Imagine after 2 girls and 2 boys, then 3 girls and 3 boys! We had to end up with an odd number just to prove we weren't caving to popular opinion. (Acutally, we had to get over that after 2, now, didn't we?)
Darling pix. I always love your blog!
I totally agree with you. I have been trying to figure out if it is just a California thing, or this epidemic is spreading across the nation. It seems that people think you should be done once you have one of each, and if you continue to have more you are killing society.
Do they not see how cute your kids are? Why would you stop? :) Its funny because in Utah its oppisite, people assume you are having more!! So funny...
That's so true. People always ask me if we are going to try for a boy. I say, "No, if we are going to have another baby we will assume it's going to be a girl." People are weird. Your kids are adorable though, so keep on making those babies:)
